Nội dung phim

Được đánh giá cao như một trong những bộ phim hoạt hình đau lòng nhất mọi thời đại, "Grave of the Fireflies" khắc họa câu chuyện bi thương về Hisako, một người mẹ mất nhà trong cuộc ném bom của quân Đồng minh vào Tokyo. Cùng với hai đứa con của mình, cô buộc phải di tản đến ngoại ô Kobe, tìm nơi trú ẩn với người em họ Kyoko. Tuy nhiên, số phận nghiệt ngã ập đến khi Kobe bị đánh bom, cướp đi sinh mạng của Kyoko. Hisako phải gánh vác trách nhiệm chăm sóc cả hai đứa con của Kyoko ngoài một mình, nhưng sự thiếu thốn lương thực đã khiến hoàn cảnh của họ trở nên vô cùng khó khăn.
